Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal, Performance Marketing based in United States.
This is a strategic, high-impact opportunity for a senior performance marketing expert who can set the standard for campaign quality across a diverse client portfolio.
You will oversee account health across multiple growth teams, identifying performance risks early and ensuring issues are addressed before they affect client relationships or retention.
The role combines deep paid media expertise, analytical problem-solving, strategic oversight, and hands-on coaching of experienced marketing leaders.
You will work closely with the Head of Growth to assess account performance, capacity, expansion opportunities, and resource allocation.
When accounts face significant challenges, you will lead focused recovery efforts, bringing together the right analytical, creative, and strategic resources to restore performance.
Your influence will come from expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to establish and uphold a consistently high performance standard rather than from formal people-management authority.
This role is ideal for an experienced performance marketer who thrives in fast-paced environments, sees patterns others miss, and is motivated by measurable client outcomes.
- Establish and maintain a consistent performance standard across all active client accounts and growth teams.
- Monitor account health using clear green, yellow, and red classifications, understanding the underlying causes and required actions for each status.
- Lead the weekly account-health review, providing the Head of Growth with a clear, evidence-based view of performance, risks, and emerging issues.
- Identify early warning signals and intervene proactively to prevent declining accounts from becoming critical performance or retention risks.
- Lead recovery plans for at-risk accounts, coordinating analysts, creatives, strategists, and other resources as needed to improve outcomes.
- Own rescue plans, timelines, priorities, and measurable results for accounts requiring significant performance intervention.
- Coach Pod Leads through a dotted-line relationship, helping them strengthen performance strategy, analytical thinking, and execution without directly managing them.
- Provide specific, data-driven coaching focused on closing performance gaps and developing stronger growth marketing capabilities.
- Partner with the Head of Growth on team capacity, account expansion opportunities, staffing decisions, and the overall balance between client needs and available resources.
- Identify recurring performance patterns across accounts and translate them into actionable recommendations for improving strategy and execution.
- Establish measurable account-health, retention, and recovery tracking to demonstrate the impact of performance interventions.
- Reduce the need for senior leadership escalation by proactively identifying and resolving performance challenges.
- Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders and clearly present account performance, risks, recommendations, and progress.
- Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve workflows, reporting, research, and performance operations through modern marketing and AI-enabled tools.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on paid media experience across platforms such as Meta, Google, and/or TikTok.
- Deep understanding of campaign performance at a granular level, with the ability to diagnose issues beyond surface-level dashboard metrics.
- Demonstrated experience managing or coaching growth marketers, paid media managers, or similar performance marketing professionals.
- Strong analytical instincts and the ability to quickly identify what is happening within an account, why it is happening, and what actions should be taken first.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-client agency, embedded marketing, or similarly performance-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present account health and conduct sensitive performance discussions with senior peers.
- Strong strategic judgment and the ability to influence stakeholders without relying on formal reporting authority.
- Comfort operating in environments where influence is built through expertise, credibility, accountability, and consistent standard-setting.
- Proficiency with ClickUp or comparable project management platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and performance analytics platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and performance issues simultaneously.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar solutions for research, reporting, analysis, and workflow acceleration is a strong plus.
- Ability to work independently, identify problems proactively, and take ownership of outcomes.
Benefits
- Base salary of $130,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience.
- Commission opportunities on clients owned.
- Flexible paid time off.
- 401(k) plan.
- Employee benefits package.
- Opportunity to influence performance standards across a broad client portfolio.
- High visibility and strategic partnership with growth leadership.
- Opportunity to coach experienced marketing professionals and strengthen performance marketing capabilities.
- Meaningful ownership of account health, client retention, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Exposure to diverse paid media strategies, client challenges, and growth opportunities.
- Flexible environment designed for experienced professionals who value autonomy and measurable impact.
