Job Description

Beacon Health System is hiring a Full Time Day Shift Endoscopy Tech for our Ambulatory Surgical Services (GI/Endoscopy) Unit at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

*The On-Call RN Emergency Response Team (ERT) role supports departments that do not typically operate 24/7 and require rapid-response clinical coverage for emergency procedures or urgent patient care situations. Associates must be able to report to the facility and clock in within 30 minutes of being called.

What You'll Do

As an Endoscopy Tech, you’ll support nurses and physicians during endoscopic procedures by preparing patients, equipment, scopes, and supplies. You’ll clean, disinfect, and properly store endoscopy equipment while maintaining a safe, organized procedure environment. You’ll also assist with patient transport, positioning, specimen collection, room cleaning, inventory, and other clinical or clerical duties as needed. Most importantly, you’ll work closely with the care team to provide safe, compassionate patient care while keeping procedures running smoothly and efficiently.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist nurses and physicians with endoscopic procedures and patient care.
  • Prepare endoscopy rooms, equipment, scopes, and supplies before procedures.
  • Clean, disinfect, and properly store endoscopy equipment and scopes.
  • Set up the appropriate scope and equipment for each scheduled procedure.
  • Safely transport, transfer, position, and assist patients as directed.
  • Collect, label, and deliver patient specimens to the laboratory.
  • Monitor supplies and inventory and order replacement materials as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe procedure rooms and work areas.
  • Check equipment such as the Steris system and report malfunctions or maintenance concerns.
  • Respond promptly to patient and staff needs while supporting a safe, compassionate care environment.

You bring strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced clinical environment. You have a patient-focused approach, with the communication skills and reassuring attitude needed to help patients feel safe and supported. You understand basic endoscopy procedures, infection prevention, equipment handling, and patient safety practices. You’re dependable, adaptable, and committed to maintaining high standards while working closely with nurses, physicians, and the rest of the care team.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current CPR certification required and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Up to one year of relevant experience required, or at least six months of experience in a technician role at another healthcare facility.
  • Required certification must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
