Position SummaryThe Sales & Fulfillment Assistant reports to the Sales Manager and provides seasonal operational support for the organization’s retail sales and distribution program during peak fourth-quarter volume. The position is responsible for supporting order fulfillment, inventory management, merchandise handling, and storage organization to ensure customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently. This role helps maintain an organized flow of merchandise and supports timely distribution of orders throughout the busy holiday and year-end sales period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Pick, pack, and ship customer orders accurately and efficiently in accordance with established fulfillment procedures and timelines.
- Process product returns, exchanges, and replacement orders, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory updates.
- Receive incoming merchandise and organize, label, and store inventory appropriately.
- Conduct routine inventory counts and assist with year-end physical inventory processes and reconciliation.
- Monitor inventory levels and promptly communicate shortages, discrepancies, damaged merchandise, or other inventory concerns to the Sales Manager.
- Maintain clean, organized, and accessible fulfillment area and storage areas to support safe and efficient fulfillment operations.
- Assist with inventory transfers and movement of merchandise between multiple storage locations.
- Prepare merchandise for sale and fulfillment, including folding apparel, bundling products, assembling map and guide sets, and other product preparation activities.
- Provide support in resolving basic customer order and fulfillment issues, including missing, incorrect, or damaged items.
- Assist with other sales, fulfillment, inventory, and related duties as needed to support peak seasonal operations.
- Previous experience in e-commerce, fulfillment, retail operations, or inventory management preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, particularly during peak seasonal periods.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to identify issues and support practical solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and orderly work areas.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Sales Manager and other team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and navigate new business, inventory, and order-management systems.
- Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled office, retail, and fulfillment environment with moderate noise levels.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform other physical activities associated with order fulfillment, inventory management, and merchandise handling.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and move packages and merchandise weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to perform computer-based work for order processing, inventory tracking, customer service, and other administrative tasks.
- Ability to safely move and organize merchandise within storage and fulfillment areas.
- Occasional interaction with visitors and members of the public in support of retail operations at the Harpers Ferry Visitor Center.
Additional Information:
- Term Length: Approximately October 5, 2026 – Dec 21, 2026
- Hourly Range: $15.00 - $16.00
- Location/Region required to work from: Harpers Ferry, WV.
- Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9am - 3pm.
