Job Description
Job Summary:
The Warehouse & Shipping Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory control operations. This position directs shipping, warehousing, inventory control, and receiving employees while ensuring the efficient storage, movement, and availability of parts, raw materials, purchased components, and finished goods. The Warehouse & Shipping Manager maintains accurate perpetual inventory levels, supports assembly line demand, and ensures customer delivery requirements are consistently met. This is an onsite role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilites:
Direct and oversee shipping, warehousing, inventory control, and receiving personnel to ensure efficient and effective department operations.
Organize and maintain warehouse space to optimize the storage, accessibility, and timely retrieval of parts and materials.
Establish departmental performance metrics, productivity goals, and employee performance standards.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production requirements and ensure customer deliveries are completed within established timelines.
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the perpetual inventory system through effective controls, processes, and regular reconciliation.
Ensure inventory and material availability supports assembly line requirements and on-time production schedules.
Ensure products are appropriately packaged, secured, and prepared for shipment to minimize the risk of damage during transit.
Manage relationships with freight carriers and e-shipping providers to obtain competitive pricing, reliable service, and timely delivery.
Oversee receiving operations to ensure incoming materials and products are accurately received, inspected, documented, and properly stored.
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and cost reduction within warehouse and shipping operations.
Manage and monitor the storage, organization, and control of purchased parts, raw materials, sub-components, and finished goods.
Ensure damaged, obsolete, or otherwise unusable inventory is properly identified, documented, and written off to accurately reflect inventory value.
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory counts.
Continuously evaluate and improve departmental processes, systems, and workflows to enhance productivity, accuracy, service, and cost effectiveness.
Ensure all warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory activities are performed safely and in accordance with established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory control, logistics, or materials management, with demonstrated supervisory or management experience.
Proven experience leading and developing warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory personnel.
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, shipping and receiving, material handling, and distribution processes.
Demonstrated experience maintaining accurate perpetual inventory records and conducting physical inventory counts and reconciliations.
Experience establishing and monitoring departmental metrics, productivity standards, and employee performance expectations.
Strong understanding of inventory control practices, including cycle counting, inventory adjustments, obsolete inventory, damaged inventory, and inventory valuation.
Experience coordinating production and assembly material requirements to support on-time delivery and uninterrupted production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Experience with year-end physical inventory and inventory valuation.
Experience implementing continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, 5S, or similar process-improvement methodologies.
Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
Forklift or other applicable material-handling equipment certification.
APICS/ASCM, CLTD, CPIM, or other relevant supply chain/logistics certification.
