About The Role

As a Body Shop Paint Technician, you will be a key member of our Body Shop team, responsible for delivering high-quality refinishing and paint work on customer vehicles. You will work closely with estimators, body technicians, and advisors to ensure all repairs meet manufacturer and insurance standards, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and cycle time. This position is eligible for hourly or flat rate pay, with incentive potential based on productivity and performance. You’ll use your experience in body shop operations, vehicle refinishing, and familiarity with the appraisal process to restore vehicles to pre-accident condition and uphold our reputation for outstanding workmanship.

What You'll Do

  • Perform all phases of vehicle refinishing and paint preparation, including masking, sanding, priming, sealing, and color application
  • Mix, match, and apply paint to achieve proper color match and finish according to manufacturer and shop standards
  • Review repair orders and work with estimators and body technicians to understand repair scopes and required refinishing operations
  • Follow the body shop appraisal and estimating process to ensure work completed aligns with approved estimates
  • Inspect repaired areas for proper preparation and correct any imperfections prior to painting
  • Operate and maintain spray guns, paint booths, and related equipment in accordance with safety and manufacturer guidelines
  • Ensure all refinishing work meets or exceeds OEM, insurance, and shop quality standards
  • Use proper curing, buffing, and polishing techniques to deliver a high-quality final finish
  • Document work performed and communicate any additional damage or repair needs to supervisors or estimators
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Work collaboratively within the Body Shop team to maintain efficient workflow and meet production deadlines
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with refinishing products, techniques, and manufacturer repair procedures, particularly for Chevrolet vehicles

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an automotive body shop or collision repair environment
  • Proven experience in vehicle refinishing and painting, including surface preparation, color matching, and finish work
  • Working knowledge of the body shop appraisal and estimating process and how it relates to refinishing operations
  • Background with Chevrolet vehicles preferred, or experience with major automotive manufacturers
  • Ability to read and understand repair orders, technical documents, and OEM refinishing guidelines
  • Familiarity with paint systems, mixing techniques, and spray equipment operation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, consistent work
  • Ability to work efficiently in a flat rate or hourly pay structure while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Understanding of and adherence to safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and handling of hazardous materials
  • Effective communication skills in English, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting as required for refinishing work
