Night RN Education Specialist

Night Education Specialist

Will assess ,develop, plan, teach, and evaluate core orientation/in-service classes for all nursing and allied health job classification. Will offer just in time teaching, focus education sessions, simulation, and skills validation. Will provide classes for off shift such as CPR, CPI, ACLS, preceptor, charge nurse etc. The night education specialist can offer real time coaching and mentoring and support for new grads, new nurses, preceptors and nursing supervisors.

  • To work directly with staff preceptors to evaluate orientee's progress and make recommendations to meet the individual learner's needs.
  • To collaborate with unit/department leadership and staff to assess and reassess learning needs and the development of nursing competencies, including those that are age appropriate.

  • To utilize a variety of teaching strategies to achieve expected outcomes and competencies.

  • To incorporate principles of adult learning when coaching or teaching

  • To assist with curriculum development for orientation, in-service and educational programs consistent with national standards.

  • To collaborate with leadership to develop educational policies that support the overall goals of the Nursing Division.

  • To assist with the development and utilization of appropriate processes to evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities.

  • To respond to informational needs of the night shift Nursing Division personnel.

  • To promote organizational values, positive communication and collaboration across all departments.

  • To participate in unit & organizational committees and projects, as assigned.

  • To assist with quality improvement, new initiatives and projects

  • To assist and support in the communication of new and revised practice changes.

Requirements:

  • Education: Masters Degree in Nursing

  • Licenses/Registrations: Current license within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse

Current certification in AHA BLS and or ACLS based on area of practice.

  • Experience: Five years of recent medical/surgical or critical care nursing. Prefer 3 years education experience
