Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Human Resources Generalist to support our Human Resources functions at our Belleville, IL facility. This role provides day-to-day HR support and serves as a primary resource for employees and managers. The Human Resources Generalist supports recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, HR compliance, performance management, employee engagement, training, and HR administration.
As a key partner to the Director of Human Resources and facility leadership, this role ensures consistent execution of HR processes, maintains accurate and confidential employee records, supports managers and employees, and helps maintain a positive, compliant, and productive workplace.
Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment activities for hourly and salaried positions, including job postings, interviews, candidate communication, background checks, drug testing, and pre-employment requirements.
- Partner with hiring managers and staffing agencies to support staffing needs and coordinate new hire paperwork, I-9s, HRIS setup, orientation, and onboarding.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a primary onsite HR resource for employees and managers regarding company policies, workplace expectations, and employment matters.
- Assist with attendance, performance, conduct, corrective actions, and employee relations investigations while maintaining confidentiality and escalating complex matters to the Director of Human Resources.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Support benefits administration, including enrollments, qualifying life events, benefit changes, and employee questions.
- Assist with disability, FMLA, and other leaves of absence, including required documentation and communication with employees, managers, and benefit providers.
HR Administration & Payroll
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files, I-9s, HRIS information, and other required employee documentation.
- Process employee status, job, compensation, and termination changes and provide HR-related payroll support to ensure accurate employee records.
- Responsible for management, calculation, and submittal of temporary staffing timecards.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with internal, customer, regulatory, and social compliance audits by maintaining accurate, audit-ready HR documentation.
Performance Management & Training
- Support performance management processes, including performance reviews, coaching, corrective actions, and related documentation.
- Coordinate required training, new hire and facility-specific programs, and maintain accurate training records.
Employee Engagement & Facility Support
- Support employee engagement, recognition programs, company events, and initiatives that promote employee morale and retention.
- Maintain a visible HR presence within the Belleville facility and provide HR support to manufacturing, warehouse, administrative, and other departments.
HRIS, Reporting & General Support
- Maintain accurate HRIS data and assist with routine reporting related to staffing, turnover, attendance, recruiting, benefits, and other workforce information.
- Support facility policies and procedures, including applicable GMP and workplace requirements, while maintaining confidentiality, exercising sound judgment, and performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of HR or related administrative experience.
- Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, HR administration, and HRIS processes.
- Working knowledge of HR practices and applicable employment regulations.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with employees, managers, and leadership.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Ability to work independently while following direction from the Director of Human Resources.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Experience with employee relations, benefits, recruitment, and HRIS administration.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification.
