Hive Group, a HUBZone-certified SDVOSB and multiple award-winning organization, delivers innovative solutions for complex, mission-critical federal programs. We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Editor / Technical Writer SME I to support our General Services Administration (GSA) Assisted Acquisition Services (AAS) client. In this role, you will be responsible for editing complex Federal acquisition documentation, standard operating procedures, and strategic communications.

The ideal candidate possesses some familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical experience across both Microsoft and Google productivity suites, and has experience integrating AI-driven writing, research, and editing tools to streamline reviews and improve document quality.

Location: This is a Remote or Hybrid role. Personnel located within 50 miles of the Hive Group Headquarters will be required to be on site a minimum of one day per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute high-quality reviews of Government acquisition documents, ensuring 100% on-time delivery while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance with business processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and templates.
  • Reorganize and refine technical content to ensure the author's purpose is immediately clear and free of all ambiguity.
  • Analyze complex technical requirements critically, identifying potential risks and inconsistencies in acquisition documents and proactively recommend solutions to resolve issues before final submission.
  • Complete assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, terminology, and accuracy. Correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors. Edit content for consistency in style and tone.
  • Review multiple documents simultaneously, while working both independently and with other Technical Writers (e.g., Peer reviews).
  • Proofread and recommend revisions or changes in content and format to improve readability and overall document quality.
  • Collect and document quantitative and qualitative metrics to enable trend analysis.
  • Utilize Microsoft 365 (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (i.e., Docs, Sheets, Slides), AI assistants (e.g., Google Gemini and USAi), and available editing tools (e.g., PerfectIt) to streamline review processes, significantly reduce manual formatting time, and enhance content quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., preferably English, Communications, Journalism, Business, Education, or a closely related degree).
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience as an Editor, Technical Writer, Communications SME, or Acquisition SME, preferably in a Federal acquisition environment.
  • Fluency in both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Comfort, familiarity, and hands-on experience using modern AI technologies and platforms to support writing, research, and editing workflows.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated compensation range for this position is between $80,000 and $100,000 annually. Actual salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s specialized skills, certifications, and years of experience.

Hive Group offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), life and disability insurance, retirement contributions, paid leave, federal holidays, professional development opportunities, and lifestyle benefits.
