About This Position
Technical Writer AEEC seeks a highly organized, detail-obsessed professional for technical writing and business development activities in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you’ll own the documentation backbone for proposals, capture efforts, process audits, and certifications—ensuring our content is clear, compliant, version-controlled, and ready for both customers and assessors. If you’re a technical writer/editor with strong document management skills who enjoys building structure, sharpening language, working across multiple teams, this is the position for you. Must be willing to work in Northern Virginia office and travel around the DC metro area for meetings, etc. Required Qualifications
2-5 years in technical writing, editing, documentation management, or proposal development.Strong organization and project coordination skills; able to manage deadlines and multiple stakeholders.Proficiency with document repositories and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365/SharePoint, Confluence), and PDF/Word editing tools.Exceptional writing, editing, and attention to detail; adept at compliance-driven content. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in business development/proposal environments (compliance matrices, structured reviews).Background in government contracting or regulated industries (a plus, not required).Proficient in utilizing AI tools for writing, graphic design, presentations, etc. Business Development Support
Proposal & Capture Documentation: Draft, edit, and standardize RFI/RFP responses, capability statements, and past performance narratives; build compliance matrices and templates.Content Library Management: Maintain reusable content, bios, case studies, and graphics; ensure version control and traceability across repositories (e.g., SharePoint/Confluence).Process & Workflow: Coordinate inputs across SMEs, sales, and delivery; establish timelines, style guides, and structured review cycles (e.g., pink/red team).Market/Opportunity Readiness: Prepare boilerplate sections, qualification checklists, and win theme summaries; assist with CRM data hygiene and opportunity artifacts. Quality & Compliance Initiatives
CMMC: Support policy/procedure drafting, control implementation evidence, POA&M tracking, and audit-readiness activities for CMMC 2.0.ISO (e.g., 9001/27001/20000): Maintain QMS documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and records; support internal audits, corrective actions, and external certification audits.Document Control: Govern naming conventions, metadata, retention schedules, and publication workflows; enforce versioning, approvals, and access controls. Editorial Excellence & Enablement
Technical Writing & Editing: Transform complex inputs into clear, concise, audience-appropriate content; ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with frameworks.Templates & Style Guides: Create and maintain templates, glossaries, and editorial standards; train stakeholders on best practices.Metrics & Continuous Improvement: Track documentation KPIs (cycle time, reuse rate, defect density), and drive improvements across BD and quality processes. Physical Demands: While performing duties of the job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus. Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
