Job Description

Position Title: Quality Systems Engineer
General Description
  • Support, maintain, and continuously improve a certified Quality Management System (QMS) that meets customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. Drive quality system effectiveness through audits, data analysis, corrective actions, and cross-functional collaboration while supporting initiatives that reduce scrap, minimize downtime, improve efficiency, and ensure customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with third-party certifications, customer-specific requirements, and applicable industry standards, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Develop into the Quality Management Representative role and support ongoing QMS administration and effectiveness.
  • Plan, conduct, and analyze internal audits; monitor performance metrics; prepare reports and presentations; and recommend improvement strategies.
  • Develop, revise, and control quality procedures, work instructions, control plans, forms, and other quality documentation.
  • Manage the QMS document control process and internal audit program.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other departments to ensure compliance with corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective action activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in and facilitate meetings related to quality performance, customer concerns, audit findings, and process improvements.
  • Review and approve quality-related documentation and changes affecting controlled processes.
  • Identify potential sources of product contamination and implement preventive measures to mitigate quality risks.
  • Monitor housekeeping and workplace organization practices to support product quality, operational efficiency, and contamination prevention.
  • Promote compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, energy conservation initiatives, and recycling programs.
  • Support customer audits, third-party audits, and certification activities.

Job Requirements

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Automotive Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Quality Systems.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of:
    • ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements
    • Internal auditing techniques
    • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
    • PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
    • MSA (Measurement System Analysis)
    • SPC (Statistical Process Control)
    • Gage capability studies
    • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
    • Control Plans
    • Corrective and Preventive Action systems
    • Contamination Prevention and Risk Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, procedures, manuals, drawings, and customer requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with customers, suppliers, management, auditors, and team members.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver professional reports, presentations, and quality analyses.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for approximately 2-3 hours per day and remain seated for extended periods while performing administrative duties.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for inspections, documentation, data entry, and computer-related tasks.
  • Requires sustained visual and mental concentration to perform detailed quality analysis and auditing activities with a high degree of accuracy.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to make independent decisions using established procedures, standards, and sound professional judgment.
  • Available for occasional travel to suppliers, customers, or corporate locations as required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and quality excellence.
