SAP Accounting Master Data Senior Consultant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP Accounting Master Data Senior Consultant based in United States.

This is a fully remote opportunity at the intersection of accounting, financial data governance, and enterprise technology.
The role serves as a subject matter expert responsible for maintaining the integrity, consistency, and governance of critical SAP financial master data.
You will work across Finance, Technology, and Business Operations to improve financial processes and support accurate reporting.
The position combines accounting expertise with technical problem-solving, project leadership, and continuous improvement.
You will help shape data structures, controls, and processes that support enterprise-wide decision-making and operational efficiency.
Success requires strong analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and the ability to translate complex financial and technical concepts into practical solutions.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for SAP Accounting Master Data, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and governance of critical financial structures.
  • Manage and maintain financial master data, including General Ledger accounts, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, global hierarchies, validation tables, and other SAP accounting objects.
  • Align financial data structures with organizational objectives, accounting requirements, and evolving business needs.
  • Analyze complex accounting, financial, and system issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support and lead SAP enhancements, testing activities, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance, Technology, and business stakeholders to improve processes and optimize master data management practices.
  • Develop and implement data controls, standards, and governance processes that promote accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Translate complex financial and technical information into clear recommendations and actionable solutions for diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Lead moderately complex projects and initiatives, coordinating cross-functional contributors to deliver agreed business outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve reporting capabilities, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide expert guidance in resolving accounting system and technology issues that affect multiple business areas.
  • Contribute to enterprise initiatives involving financial reporting, data quality, operational excellence, and system optimization.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, financial systems, SAP master data, financial reporting, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, accounting processes, and enterprise financial systems.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or governing master data within SAP or comparable ERP environments.
  • Experience supporting SAP accounting processes, month-end close activities, system testing, enhancements, or upgrades.
  • Knowledge of master data governance, internal controls, financial reporting structures, and process optimization.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues and navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to coordinate cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial and technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence partners across Finance, Technology, and business functions.
  • Passion for data quality, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and efficient financial processes.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple teams in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
  • Willingness to complete a background investigation as part of the hiring process.
  • Ability to work remotely with a dedicated, private workspace and reliable internet connection.

Benefits:
  • Annual compensation of $65,600–$110,075, based on experience and qualifications.
