Job Description

Team Leader Floor Care & Support Services

The Environmental Services Team Leader – Floor Care & Support Services assists with coordinating daily floor care operations, trash management services, furniture moving, project work, and operational support activities during assigned shifts. This position serves as a frontline working leader responsible for supporting staff, monitoring work quality, assisting with training, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and professional healthcare environment. The Team Leader works closely with the Shift Supervisor and department leadership to ensure floor care projects, waste stream operations, room setups, and support service requests are completed efficiently and safely.

Assist with coordinating daily floor care activities throughout the facility.
Perform and assist with auto scrubbing, burnishing, top scrubbing, recoating, stripping, waxing, carpet care, and specialty floor restoration projects.
Inspect floors and completed work for cleanliness, appearance, and safety.
Assist with maintaining floor care schedules and project assignments.
Ensure proper use and care of floor equipment, batteries, pads, chemicals, and tools.
Train and support floor technicians on proper floor care procedures and safety practices.
Identify flooring issues, damaged surfaces, or safety concerns and report them to leadership.

Trash & Waste Management
Assist with overseeing trash technicians and daily waste stream operations.
Ensure proper handling and transportation of trash, regulated medical waste, recycling, linen, and specialty waste streams.
Monitor trash docks, compactors, soiled holding rooms, and staging areas for cleanliness and organization.
Assist with maintaining compliance with infection prevention and safety procedures.

Furniture Moving & Operational Support
Assist with furniture moves, office setups, room conversions, event setups, and departmental support requests.
Help coordinate work orders and project assignments during the shift.
Assist with emergency operational needs and special projects as assigned.

Team Leadership & Operational Support
Serve as a working lead and assist staff throughout the shift.
Help monitor work quality, productivity, attendance, and professionalism.
Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
Provide guidance and support to floor technicians, trash technicians, and support staff.
Respond to service requests, spills, and operational issues as needed.
Conduct routine rounds to ensure assigned areas are maintained properly.
Assist leadership with inspections, audits, and operational documentation.
Promote teamwork, professionalism, safety, and customer service expectations.
Maintain accountability for department equipment, radios, phones, and keys.
Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital operations.

May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. May be in contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Able to handle emergency or crisis situations. Occasionally subject to irregular hours. May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary. Must be able to work well with others. Verbal and written communications skills are required. Is expected to project a professional attitude in appearance and conduct. Is expected to attend work as scheduled. Must comply with the Hospital's Code of Conduct. Must be able to stand and walk for long hours and have the mobility and strength to move quickly, stoop, and/or bend repeatedly. Must have dexterity of hands, eyes, and mind to perform assigned tasks. Must have the ability to remain calm under stress. Must be able to use EVS-related technology including bed tracking systems, mobile communication devices, and electronic work order platforms.

High school degree or equivalent preferred.
