About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Digital Product, the Digital Content Specialist will help shape the systems, standards and workflows that underpin our digital content capability. This is a new opportunity to strengthen how educational content supports our digital product portfolio and the needs of teachers, students and schools.

The role combines content expertise, customer and commercial understanding, technical acumen and systems thinking. It translates content needs and workflow challenges into clear requirements and works closely with developers and technology partners to ensure the right solutions are designed, built and adopted.

Key Responsibilities:

• Content development: Identify and shape improvements that make educational content easier to structure, find, reuse, adapt and distribute.
• Discovery and requirements: Work with Content, Product and market teams to understand workflows and user needs, then translate them into prioritised requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Technology delivery: Work closely with third-party developers and solution architects throughout design, build and testing to ensure solutions meet agreed content, customer and business outcomes.
• Technology evaluation and experimentation: Determine the most appropriate use of AI, automation, search, metadata, structured content or other technologies. Test assumptions before recommending investment or scale.
• Content standards and integration: Support metadata, taxonomy, content-structure and interoperability standards, ensuring new capabilities integrate appropriately with existing content management systems and other platforms.
• Testing, adoption and improvement: Coordinate testing with content SMEs, support implementation and adoption, and use feedback and performance data to improve our workflows continuously.
• Governance and quality: Ensure solutions appropriately address content rights, provenance, editorial quality, accessibility, privacy, security and responsible AI.
• Stakeholder and supplier collaboration: Build effective relationships across Content, Product, Technology, global teams and external partners; communicate priorities, progress, decisions and trade-offs clearly.

About You

Essential:

• Proven experience delivering digital-content, publishing-technology or content-operations capabilities through their lifecycle
• Strong understanding of structured content, metadata, taxonomy, content modelling, search and content reuse
• Technical fluency across AI, automation, search, APIs and system integration, including the ability to select technology appropriate to the problem
• Strong systems thinking, including identifying dependencies, anticipating downstream impacts and balancing competing requirements
• Customer-centred and evidence-led approach, with the commercial judgement to balance value, cost, feasibility and risk
• Strong project management skills including planning delivery, coordinating dependencies, managing risks, budgets and timelines, and maintaining clear accountability
• Strong change management capability including assessing impacts, engaging stakeholders, preparing users for change and supporting adoption of new ways of working
• Experience working collaboratively with developers, suppliers and technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver outcomes
• Ability to challenge established approaches, test assumptions and apply learning to continuous improvement
• Strong written, verbal and influencing skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts, options and value to varied audiences.
• Demonstrated ownership of outcomes, adaptability and commitment to continuous learning.

Desirable:

• Understanding of content rights, governance, editorial quality, accessibility, security and responsible AI
• Experience with XML, PageSeeder or comparable content-management platforms
• Experience in educational publishing, curriculum-aligned content or the ANZ education market
• Experience with Agile methods and tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Relevant qualification in digital publishing, information management, technology, product delivery or a related discipline
