Job Description

Position Summary The Admission and Scheduling representative is responsible for the scheduling and admissions of patients. Obtains pre-certification information needed for all admissions (outpatient/inpatient). Works with provider offices to obtain pre-certification information and contacts insurance companies for all patient types requiring pre-admission certification, notification, in-network, out-network, and benefits verification. Integrates knowledge and skills with effective interactions to provide quality work. Provides direct and indirect ways to communicate with those who need it, meeting the needs of each encounter, in-line with their scope. Decisions and actions are determined in an ethical manner practicing compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and unique attributes of each person. Effectively communicates with patients/families, visitors, colleagues, physicians, leadership, and volunteers. All areas of work are provided to achieve and maintain top decile results and outcomes for patient experience, quality, and patient safety. All areas of work demonstrate the ARHS Mission, Vision, and Values in action, and, approaches work in a way that reflects a bias for action, efficiency, and personal accountability. Demonstrates professional conduct, effective communication, and effective completion of tasks. Effectively and professionally manages working relationships with coworkers, physicians, and all ARHS team members, in a way that promotes a healthy work environment. Responds quickly and accurately to emergencies in the work environment. Performs duties under direct supervision. Always assists coworkers, patients, families, and visitors regardless of the patient assignment, so long as the assistance is in-line with their scope. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Hiring compensation ranges from $15.50. This position is also eligible for shift differential on top of base rate of pay. Position Qualifications Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
  • 3-6 months of prior experience in a medical or office setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians
  • Typing, computer skills, word processing, mathematical skills
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must have the ability to coordinate and organize details
  • Personable approach patient’s, family/visitors and surrounding staff
  • Must have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks
Physical Demands
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting and at times, standing/walking
  • Bending, squatting, twisting, and turning
  • Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
Working Conditions
  • Exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
  • Frequently exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals, and specimens and unpleasant elements (accident, injury, slippery surfaces uneven surfaces), etc.
  • Subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) and emergencies
  • Continuous sitting > 8 hours per shift
  • Episodes of walking/standing greater than > 4 hours per shift
  • Speaking, reading, and writing > 8 hours per day
  • Infrequently per shift: lift, carry, push, and/or pull > 30 lbs.
  • Frequently per shift: bends, squats, kneels, twists, turns, and reaches
  • Frequently per minute: hand, finger, and wrist repetition and moderate dexterity
  • Frequently per hour: exposed to soft voices > 3 feet away
  • Frequently per hour: exposed to close eye work
