Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
Texas Card House is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. You will play a pivotal role in maturing our financial processes. You will be responsible for overseeing the integrity of our general ledger, managing complex reconciliations, and providing the VP of Finance with the accurate data needed for strategic decision-making.
This is a hands-on role where you will be the senior peer to our two Staff Accountants and go-to technical resource. Together you will ensure the financial health of Texas’s premier social club and gaming destination.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the chart of accounts and oversee the accuracy of entries.
- Complex Reconciliations: Perform advanced reconciliations for high-volume cash accounts, merchant processing, and intercompany transactions across multiple locations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly balance sheets, P&L statements, and cash flow reports for review by the VP of Finance.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate internal and external audits. Ensure all state and local tax filings (Sales tax, Mixed Beverage tax, etc.) are accurate and timely.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in our current workflows and implement scalable solutions to streamline reporting as we expand.
- Mentorship: Serve as a technical resource to the two Staff Accountants. Answer questions, share best practices, and help raise the team’s overall quality.
- F&B Cost Accounting: Oversee food & beverage cost of goods tracking, inventory reconciliation, recipe costing, and spoilage/waste accounting across the three full-kitchen club locations. Ensure accurate POS integration with the general ledger and maintain compliance with Mixed Beverage tax obligations.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Prior experience in hospitality, restaurant/F&B operations, gaming, or high-volume retail is a significant plus.
- F&B Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience in a restaurant, hotel F&B, or club with full kitchen operations strongly preferred. Familiarity with food & beverage COGS tracking, inventory management, and POS system integration is a significant plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or CMA candidate preferred but not required.
- Technical Savvy: Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with mid-market ERP systems (e.g., Sage or QuickBooks Enterprise).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Texas-specific business taxes and a strong understanding of GAAP.
- Soft Skills: You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, “poker-room” environment where adaptability and discretion are paramount.
