Job Description
Scale Operator Job Description
The scale operator plays a vital role in ensuring the daily operations of the business run smoothly by monitoring the flow of incoming and outgoing traffic. Their responsibilities include coordinating and handling cashier tasks, addressing intricate payment matters, and handling customer issues that need to be resolved. Additionally, they are responsible for conducting cash register reconciliations at the end of each shift, managing withdrawals, maintaining records and receipts. In certain organizations, the scale operator may also oversee inventory levels, identify low stock, and report on supply and material status.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Answering phone calls with excellence to address customer needs promptly, serving as the initial point of contact at the company.
• Assisting with shelf-stocking, clean up, and displays
• Keeping the register area neat and stocked with essential supplies
• Counting money in cash drawers at the beginning of a shift
• Rectifying any price discrepancies and resolving complaints from clients
• Issuing the correct change due to the client
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Submitting reports on incoming and outgoing cash
• Being present on the shop floor to assist with customer questions, complaints, and comments
• Managing document distribution and supporting various administrative projects
• Liaising with management to ensure operations run smoothly
• Punctuality, attendance, and working a minimum 50 hours per week
• Coaching, mentoring, and motivating team members to provide exceptional customer service
• Conducting basic data entry tasks as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Excellent numeracy skills, including adding and subtracting large numbers
Basic knowledge of excel and google sheets.
Be able to multi-task
Communicate clearly with customers
Knowledge of business policies for financial transactions
Time management skills
•Team player mindset for collaborating team
•Exceptional interpersonal skills for fostering relationships with customers and colleagues
Understanding when and how to assist colleagues and teach them new skills
- Able to easily communicate, take direction & execute tasks
Being detail-oriented with basic mathematical skills
Ability to focus on the satisfaction of clients
Time management and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to remain helpful throughout the work shift and develop a courteous approach to resolving complaints
Ability to lift heavy items, walk, stand, and work with other team members to provide excellent service in a fast-paced environment
Strong customer service skills and a high level of energy
Ability to handle cash transactions responsibly and accurately
