About This Position

Purchasing Agent (Special Projects)

Independently manages and coordinates special projects for the corporate purchasing function, including projects associated with new department openings, facility expansions, renovations, and operational transitions. Performs advanced purchasing responsibilities to ensure efficient and timely procurement of capital equipment, furniture, fixtures, supplies, and services throughout Med Center Health.

Develops project plans and procurement timelines aligned with operational needs and construction schedules. Coordinates with Facilities, departmental leadership, Finance, IT, and vendors to support proper specification, sourcing, delivery, and installation of required items. Participates in the negotiation of capital, supply, and service agreements, providing negotiation support and guidance to end-user departments and purchasing staff.

Assists in establishing and monitoring par levels, inventory needs, and non-stock items as assigned. Serves as a resource within the department and provides direction to staff members related to completion of work and project assignments within established policies and procedures of Med Center Health.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four years of professional level Purchasing experience (OR) four years of professional level experience in a role of equivalent complexity and decision making required.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting multi-departmental projects preferred.
  • Experience with capital equipment, furniture, fixtures, or construction-related purchasing preferred.
  • Previous purchasing experience in computerized inventory and EDI systems preferred.
