Position Description:
1.Create and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with local and federal regulations.
2. Manages all fleet and shop equipment and maintenance and ensures maintenance staff are adequately trained and equipped to accomplish work in a safe and productive manner.
3.Provides leadership, observation, guidance, direction, support, and instruction to maintenance staff both as individuals and as a group to ensure good two-way communication.
4.Manages the operation in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
5.Ensures City, County, State and Federal regulations are met at all times.
6.Supports safety with compliance for the following programs: storm water, spill prevention, hazardous waste, air quality, fire safety and emergency action program.
7.Coordinates with Inventory/PM coordinator on inventory levels, preventive maintenance schedules, and corrective maintenance is performed on all units.
8.Maintains all registrations, Annual inspections in compliance with operational needs.
9.Inputs fleet information into the computerized fleet management system daily.
10.Maintains transportation and environmental compliance and records for fleet equipment and shop, in computer and paper files.
11.Conducts training for OSHA, EPA and DOT and company policies for maintenance staff safety.
12.Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for fleet, equipment, tools, and department.
13.Ensures adequate inventory of critical spare parts supplies and equipment.
14.Reviews the operation of equipment and systems constantly to minimize downtime.
15.Conducts regular inspections and prepares fleetio reports.
16.Upholds safety standards and performance for all maintenance staff and enforces company safety programs.
17.Schedules and assigns work for preventative maintenance and repair work on fleet and shop equipment.
18.Conducts employee performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge and contribution of maintenance staff.
19.Evaluates and reports maintenance quality, productivity, equipment status and efficiency of maintenance work.
20.Manages and ensures payroll reporting for maintenance staff.
21.Engages in the recruiting of new maintenance staff as needed.
22.Manages vendor relations for the purchase, supply, maintenance and warranty of equipment and supplies.
23.Communicates frequently with project management and addresses needs.
24.Utilizes company software programs such as fleetio, vision link and fleetwatcher to manage equipment maintenance.
25.Develops and contributes to budget and forecasts and participates and contributes to weekly company staff meetings.
26.Reviews purchase orders with accounting to ensure accuracy and proper payment of invoices.
27.Observe all company and customer policies and safety requirements.
28.Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in fleet management, preferably in road construction
- Must possess a minimum 5 years’ experience in a management role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain all types of records with confidentiality.
- Problem solving ability.
- Organizational and prioritizing skills
- Knowledge of heavy diesel trucks, yellow iron, and construction equipment
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
- Will be traveling 85% of time.
Position is a 24/7 emergency service provider; the position will require on-call/storm related night and weekend work.
