About This Position

Position Description:

SUMMARY: Responsible for all activities in the general ledger and accounts receivable functions. Responsible for month-end close, financial reports, the yearly financial audit, and collection activities such as sending follow-up inquiries and negotiating with past due accounts. Familiar with the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Ensure accuracy of financial information.

Ensure proper recording of cash receipts and timely collection of monies due.

Reconcile subsidiary ledgers.

Reconcile Statement of Financial Position accounts.

Ensure proper monthly closing of financial records and preparation of financial reports.

Complete cost reports to various funding sources.

Facilitate budget analysis.

Ensure proper yearend closing of financial records.

Facilitate yearly financial audits and the 990 tax form.

Make recommendations to improve quality of financial systems.

Suggest improvements to the accounting reporting system.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in Finance/Accounting or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting functions, preferably in a social service setting. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment.

Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.

Must complete 20 hours of staff development annually.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to collect data, establish facts, define problems, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and, deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CUTURAL COMPENTENCY: Ability to relate, understand, accept and interact in a culturally sensitive manner.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, board members and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILL: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
