About This Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented Software Developer to join our team in a mock capacity for testing, training, and demonstration purposes. This role is designed to simulate real-world development responsibilities and workflows in order to evaluate tools, processes, and candidate capabilities in a controlled environment.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working through sample requirements, participating in simulated sprints, and producing clean, well-documented code used strictly for evaluation and training scenarios.
Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate in simulated Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
Develop sample applications and features based on mock business requirements
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code for demonstration purposes
Perform code reviews and peer feedback exercises
Debug and troubleshoot intentionally seeded issues in sample projects
Collaborate with mock cross-functional teams (QA, Product, UX) in training exercises
Create unit tests and participate in mock QA validation processes
Document development steps and decisions for learning and audit purposes
Follow best practices for version control, branching, and pull requests
Contribute to process improvement discussions during training sessions
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, C#)
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
Understanding of Agile development methodologies
Ability to read and interpret technical requirements
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Experience with REST APIs and web services
Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
Experience writing unit tests and using testing frameworks
Exposure to CI/CD concepts
Prior participation in code reviews
Experience working in team-based development environments
Git / GitHub or GitLab
VS Code or similar IDE
Sample ticketing system (e.g., Jira mock board)
Docker (for environment simulation)
Postman for API testing
Sample cloud environment (AWS/Azure sandbox)
Success in this role will be measured by:
Quality and clarity of code written in mock scenarios
Ability to follow simulated development workflows
Participation in team exercises and discussions
Documentation quality and reasoning behind decisions
Problem-solving approach during debugging exercises
This position exists solely within a controlled training and testing environment. No production systems or live customer data will be accessed. All projects, tools, and scenarios are fictional and used for educational and evaluation purposes only.
