JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
- Job Summary:
  - Provide a safe and secure environment for patients, hospital personnel, visitors and property from careless, negligent or malicious acts, safety hazards, and fire. Facilitates the management of all department technology platforms including but not limited to access control and video management.
- Education:
  - Position requires an Associates degree.
- Registration/Certification/Licensure:
  - Unexpired, unsuspended driver’s license if incumbent will be required to drive as part of their routine job duties.
  - Must possess or obtain Axis Certified Professional designation within 6 months of employment.
  - Demonstrate ability to effectively respond to emergencies via successful completion of mandatory bi-annual physical fitness tests (PFT)*. Failure to pass the PFT will result in a probationary period followed by termination for failing to meet the position's requirements. **Pertains to all officers hired after March 2014 and those officers hired before March 2014 who participate in the CHS Security Department Career Ladder. *PFT consists of a combination of the following maneuvers: 10 phase Physical Fitness Test requiring running, lifting, 30 push-ups and 30 sit-ups.
  - Currently has a Maryland State Security Guard Card Certification or MUST successfully complete 12 hours of Initial Security Guard Training, given at CalvertHealth, required by the Maryland State Police Licensing Division, be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background check by the Maryland State Police.
- Experience:
  - Position requires 12 months previous experience in the security, emergency management, military or network/access control/cyber security field or a combination of education and experience.
- Other Requirements:
  - Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
  - Satisfactory completion of SELT (security entry level training) course within 6 months of employment.
  - FEMA IS-100, 200, 700 and 800 completed within 6 months of employment.
  - Complete and maintain CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
  - Satisfactory completion of the “Safe Patient Handling” course provided by CHS within 3 months employment.
  - IAHSS Basic and Advanced Security Officer Certification within 6 months of employment.
  - Satisfactory completion of CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification within 3 months of employment.
  - Handcuffing, OC and Baton Certifications within 3 months of employment.
  - May require the ability to drive as part of routine job duties.
