POSITION SUMMARY
University Health Partners of Hawaii is the Faculty Practice of the John A Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). In conjunction with the State of Hawaii's Department of Health - Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division, JABSOM and UHP are expanding Hawaii UTelehealth (HUT) to provide access to no-cost addiction medicine treatment for the State of Hawaii. Our new Telehealth Addiction Medicine program is founded on the belief that everyone deserves a path to recovery. We aim to provide evidence-based, patient-centered, and non-judgmental care for individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs), meeting them wherever they are in their journey. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Credentialed Behavioral Health Provider to be a core member of our clinical team.
We looking for a compassionate and autonomous Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor (Psychologist (PhD or PsyD), LMHC, LPC, or LCSW) to provide high-quality, direct clinical care, including psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based psychotherapy, to patients in our innovative, 100% remote Addiction Medicine program. The Credentialed Behavioral Health Provider will be responsible for conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, formulating diagnoses, developing and implementing individualized clinical treatment plans, providing individual and group psychotherapy, and collaborating within an interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This role is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about addiction medicine, skilled in virtual psychological services, and committed to providing holistic, patient-centered care to underserved populations.

Location: 100% Remote
This is a full-time or part-time position working Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Ideally, the position would work a minimum of 20 hours per week, but the exact number of hours is negotiable.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Training/Experience
Minimum:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.
- Current, unrestricted Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in the State of Hawaii is required.
or
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related field from an accredited program.
- Current, unrestricted Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in the State of Hawaii is required.
or
- Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or equivalent from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program.
- Completion of an APA-accredited internship.
- Current, unrestricted Licensed Psychologist license in the State of Hawaii is required.
and
- Minimum of 2-5 years of post-licensure clinical experience providing psychological assessment and psychotherapy for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Preferred:
- Experience with psychological assessment and testing relevant to addiction and mental health populations (e.g., personality, cognitive, symptom severity measures) is highly desirable.
Skills Knowledge
Minimum:
- Demonstrated expertise in applying a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities relevant to addiction treatment (e.g., CBT, DBT, MI, trauma-focused therapies, ACT).
- Strong diagnostic and differential diagnostic skills for mental health and substance use disorders (DSM-5-TR).
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems, secure telehealth platforms, video software and other digital health tools for clinical documentation and service delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, clinical documentation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care, cultural humility, and reducing health disparities.
- Strong critical thinking skills for complex case conceptualization and treatment planning.
- A dedicated team player who communicates clearly, respectfully, and provides expert consultation to all members of the care team.
- Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality, and the ethical principles and code of conduct of the American Psychological Association (APA).
