SHIFT MECHANIC I at Tietex International Ltd – Spartanburg, South Carolina

Job Summary: Performs any number of various type tasks, requiring various skill sets, to make, modify, fix, and/or repair, buildings, machines, parts, and/or components, including structural, for all areas throughout the plant and property. Especially focuses on greige plant with carding emphasis, concerning related components and/or equipment. Primary objective is to keep shift operational.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

1. Remains vigilant for potential problems or issues with buildings, machines, parts, and/or components
2. PM’s, repairs, and/or fixes: machines, parts, and/or components, especially greige plant related components, with emphasis in carding
3. Cuts, welds, grinds, prepares, paints, fabricates, builds, and/or rigs: machines, parts, and/or components, especially Greige plant related components, with emphasis in carding
4. Utilizes motorized trucks and/or material handling equipment to help perform duties safely and efficiently
5. Oftentimes functions independently, and takes direction and guidance from other employees in skills and duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

1. Self-motivation
2. High school diploma or G.E.D.
3. Good visual acuity and manual dexterity
4. Available as needed including weekends and holidays, with transportation
5. Ability to utilize prints and drawings, make measurements, and use hand and power tools
6. Preferred prior job experience as carding PM mechanic, PM mechanic, and/or card operator
7. Mechanical equipment aptitude and experience and repair knowledge

Physical Requirements:

1. Stands: Typical 8 hrs. on concrete. Sits: Typical brief periods
2. Moves/Travels: Entire plant, roof, and grounds as necessary
3. Heights: Climbs ladders as necessary. Uses man-lifts and lift baskets as necessary
4. Lifts: Up to 75 lbs. Uses hoists and material handling equipment to assist with larger, as necessary
5. Pushes/Pulls/Reaches/Bends/Stoops: Numerous times daily
