Paving Equipment Operator - Traveling at Hi-Way Paving Inc – Charlotte, North Carolina

Hi-Way Paving is always looking for skilled Paving Equipment Operators to join our team. While we may not have an immediate opening, we continuously seek experienced paving operators to support our slip-form concrete paving operations on highways and airfields.

This role requires frequent travel between our project locations, including Charlotte, NC; Nashville, TN; and future sites as needed. If you're an experienced operator open to travel and looking for opportunities to contribute to high-quality paving projects, we'd love to hear from you!

What You'll Do:

• Operate slipform paving (heavy) equipment in compliance with manufacturer and company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist mechanics and provide input on equipment repairs, maintenance, and performance improvements.
• Help load and unload equipment and materials at job sites, vehicles, and/or trailers.
• Maintain job site cleanliness and ensure that equipment, materials, and tools are stored safely and properly.
• Complete required paperwork, reports, and documentation accurately and on time.

What We Look For:

• Experience: Slipform paving experience: 1–3 years’ operating slipform concrete pavers (e.g., Gomaco 2800) on large-scale, stringless, mainline paving projects — required.
• Construction background: 3+ years of heavy/highway construction experience as an operator or laborer — required.
• Airfield paving experience: Prior work on runways or taxiways — preferred.
• Mechanical skills: Mechanically inclined, with experience in equipment maintenance and repair — preferred
• Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases).
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
