About This Position
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for creating internal drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. This includes creating solid models and performing calculations for various manufacturing processes. The Design Draftsman will work closely with the Manufacturing Process Engineers, Process Planners, and Production Supervisors to ensure drawings are created and detailed based on the defined manufacturing process. Those with experience with Machining, CNC Programming, and Tool Design could provide additional value that will be considered and discussed during the interview process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- All job duties and responsibilities require collaboration with other team members.
- Create product drawings utilizing AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Create sketches for customer approval.
- Create drawings from customer supplied parts.
- Design commutators and collector rings based on customer requirements.
- Work with customers to determine dimensional requirements and document accordingly.
- Create Part Specs within our ERP software for each manufactured part.
- Provide manufacturing support to shop supervisors and hourly workers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ Years of manufacturing experience, with 1+ years of CAD experience preferred.
- Associate degree or higher in an Engineering field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Prior experience using an engineering design software is preferred. AutoCAD Mechanical and SolidWorks is a plus.
- Design experience in the following categories would be a plus: metal extrusion, cold drawing, cold rolling, broaching, punching, stamping, work holding, forging, casting.
- CNC Programming and machining experience is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in technical matters.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
