Salary starts at $100K (negotiable dependent upon experience)

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in business development, commercial banking, or financial sales.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products and financial services.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Proficient in English, reading, writing, and grammar skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; proficient analytical skills; proficient project/time management skills; proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office and Internet research; thorough knowledge of BSA and related regulations; thorough knowledge of bank products and services and the potential money laundering and terrorist financing risks associated with those; thorough knowledge of BSA reporting and recordkeeping requirements.

General Responsibilities

The Business Development Officer (BDO) plays a critical role in driving growth for the bank by identifying, acquiring, and nurturing relationships with new and existing business clients. This role focuses on promoting the bank’s financial products and services, including commercial lending, deposit accounts, and treasury solutions, to help clients achieve their financial goals.

Essential Duties

Client Acquisition & Growth

  1. Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, cold calling, and market research.
  2. Develop and execute strategic plans to grow the bank’s commercial client base.
  3. Conduct client meetings to understand financial needs and present tailored banking solutions.
  4. Product Promotion & Sales
  5. Promote a full range of banking products including business loans, lines of credit, deposit accounts, merchant services, and cash management tools.
  6. Collaborate with business partners to structure competitive financial packages.
  7. Meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics.
  8. Relationship Management
  9. Build long-term relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
  10. Serve as a trusted advisor, providing ongoing support and financial guidance.
  11. Coordinate with relevant business partners to ensure seamless clients onboarding and service delivery.
  12. Market Intelligence
  13. Stay informed about local market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes.
  14. Provide feedback to leadership on product development and market positioning.
  15. Compliance & Documentation
  16. Ensure all client interactions and transactions comply with banking regulations and internal policies.
  17. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client communications, and deal progress.
  18. Office-based with regular travel to client sites and networking events.
  19. May include evening or weekend engagements for business development purposes.
