Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead our engineering team. This individual will play a critical role in shaping our development processes, ensuring code quality, and scaling our technical capabilities. You’ll bring both leadership acumen and technical depth, working cross-functionally to align engineering efforts with company goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and scale a high-performing software engineering team.
- Mentor developers and engineering managers, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture.
- Establish and refine Agile methodologies across all engineering projects.
- Participate in code reviews and provide architectural oversight to maintain quality and scalability.
- Define and implement best practices in software development and deployment.
- Work closely with system administrators to ensure robust deployment strategies and infrastructure support.
- Manage a distributed team, ensuring alignment and performance across remote and on-site team members.
- Collaborate with the product and executive teams to align engineering output with business priorities.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of success in a start-up or scale-up environment.
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks and software development life cycles.
- Strong hands-on coding experience and ability to lead technical discussions.
- Proficient in managing cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in the biomedical, life sciences, or research software sector.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working with both Linux-based and cloud-native environments.
