Description:

Overview: This position requires hybrid (online and in person) instruction and clinical coordination for the noncredit CNA course. Some travel may be involved.

Essential Duties:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Required to complete instructor online training prior to teaching first class.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of course content
  • Prepare and deliver curriculum, including developing or updating syllabi, developing content and administering assessments.
  • Coordinate clinical experiences for students.
  • Collaborate with clinical sites on student progress toward course goals.
  • Initiate and maintain articulation agreements with clinical sites and ensure students meet the requirements for entry (i.e. background checks, immunizations, etc.)
  • Assist in assessment process by using approved assessment tools and submitting data.
  • Give timely feedback to students on course content, assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects.
  • Clearly communicate coursework expectations to students.
  • Be available via email and phone throughout the course to answer student and clinical site questions regarding course.
  • Assist students with accessing appropriate college resources when needed.
  • Attend pertinent professional development opportunities, as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Missouri. The licensee shall not be subject to current disciplinary action; and
  • Certified CNA instructor as designated through the Department of Health and Senior Services

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, and at least one (1) year experience in provision of long-term care facility services within the last five (5) years.
  • Teaching/training experience preferred.

Skills: Have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction. The ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner. Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess an understanding of the range of needs the college students represent. Possess commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college. Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology. Preference given to those with previous community college experience and those who are residents of the state of Missouri.
