Challenging Projects:
As a Senior Joint Operations Readiness Planner with JCTM you will plan, coordinate, and support joint training and readiness events that help CCMD and TSOC battle staff build and sustain mission readiness. This position requires experience applying JTS, JELC, JOPP, JTT, DRRS, CJCSM 3500.03-series processes, Joint doctrine, SOF core activities, operational design, readiness assessment, and exercise control functions in a Joint SOF HQ environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Readiness Event Planning: Plan, coordinate, and support joint training and readiness events across the Joint Exercise Life Cycle.
- Scenario Development: Lead or co-lead realistic, policy-informed SOF training and exercise scenarios that reflect evolving threats, multi-domain challenges, and all warfighting functions.
- Training Audience Integration: Integrate joint, interagency, multinational, TSOC, CCMD, Service, and SOF Component training audiences.
- Exercise Control Support: Support exercise control functions, scripting, MSEL development, real-time scenario support, and readiness event execution.
- Readiness Assessment: Develop AARs, readiness assessments, training improvement recommendations, and products that inform future training.
- Senior Leader Products: Prepare or deliver products for O-5 through GO/FO decision-makers.
- Joint Readiness Systems: Apply JTS, JTT, DRRS, UJTL, JMETL, Joint doctrine, JOPP, and JELC to support planning, execution, and assessment.
- Operational Design and Crisis Response: Apply working knowledge of operational design and familiarity with SOF crisis response operations to improve training realism.
- Staff Coaching: Coach planners and battle staff on decision timing, prioritization, tempo control, synchronization, and risk thresholds without replacing Government execution responsibilities.
- Readiness Governance: Help refine readiness metrics, internal SOPs, reporting systems, training progression maps, and long-term improvement strategies.
State-of-the-Art Technology:
Expand your expertise by working with joint training tools, readiness reporting systems, LVC-enabled training constructs, scenario development methods, and advanced operational planning frameworks in support of USSOCOM readiness priorities.

You Have:
- Active TOP SECRET Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years of SOF experience.
- Former E-7+, CW2+, or O-3+ experience.
- 3+ years of experience planning and executing joint exercises using the Joint Training System.
- Operational working knowledge of warfighting functions and SOF core activities within a Joint SOF HQ construct.
- Experience managing full-spectrum readiness events aligned to CJCSM 3500.03-series methodology.
- 2+ years of Joint operations and/or operational-level SOF planning experience.
- Experience leading or co-leading development of realistic, policy-informed SOF training or exercise scenarios.
- Experience integrating joint, interagency, and multinational training audiences.
- Experience ensuring SOF mission requirements are represented in training objectives, events, and assessments.
- Experience preparing or delivering products for O-5 through GO/FO decision-makers.
- Experience coordinating training or readiness efforts across TSOCs, SOF Components, CCMD Staff, Services, and Interagency partners.
- Experience applying UJTL, JMETL, Joint doctrine, JTS, JTT, and DRRS.
- Experience developing AARs, readiness assessments, and training improvement recommendations.
- Minimum 2 years of recent strategic or command-level experience within the last 8 years at USSOCOM, TSOC, Service HQ, Joint Staff, OSW, or a 3–4 Star HQ in a command cadre, senior enlisted leader/key developmental billet, primary staff planner, or training lead role.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience as a J7 or J37 Joint Training Planner or Training NCO, J3 or J35 Plans/Future Operations Planner, TSOC J3/J7 training and exercise staff member, SOCOM or Service SOF Component HQ training/plans staff member, CCMD or JTF exercise planner, or readiness/assessments/AAR analyst.
- Experience as a Joint Exercise Planner, Assistant EXCON Lead, EXCON Functional Lead, Operations Planner, Future Ops Planner, Training Developer, Scenario Writer, or Readiness Analyst.
- Experience in SOF operational units with training design responsibility, including Company, Troop, Detachment, Battalion, Squadron, Group, Regiment, Task Force, SMU, or NMF training or plans staff roles.
- Experience supporting command post exercises, functional mission profiles, operational rehearsals, wargames, and multi-domain readiness events.
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
