Summing it upThe Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial integrity, supporting decision-making, and improving processes within the finance department. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to manage people and priorities in a growing organization.What you'll be doingSupervise and support the daily activities of the AP, AR, and billing.Oversee general ledger entries and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports. Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries. Coordinate with external accountants on tax filings, year-end working papers, and audits. Manage GST/HST remittances. Develop and maintain internal financial controls and accounting policies. Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support operational and strategic planning. Collaborate with leadership to optimize cost management and revenue recognition processes. Train and mentor junior finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes. Handling special projects as requested by management. Additional duties as deemed necessary. Responsibilities and duties may change with the needs and requirements of the business. Who you areEducation: Bachelor's or Master's in Finance, Accounting, or Business (CPA/MBA preferred).Experience: 4+ years in accounting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and budgeting. Leadership experience working with strata-titled resorts, property management companies, or hotels/resorts is preferred.Skills: A get-the-job-done attitude, problem-solving, self-motivation, analytical thinking, confidentiality, reliability, strong communication, teamwork, adaptability, attention to detail, and customer service are key attributes in our ideal candidate.Software Proficiency: QuickBooks Desktop, Oracle NetSuite, Rippling (or similar HRIS software), Hotel/Resorts PMS (Property Management Systems), advance skills in Excel and Microsoft 365 tools.Other Requirements: Valid Class 5 driver's license or reliable transportation to downtown Calgary.
