Description: Lawn Care and Maintenance SupervisorLove Fresh Air, Smell of Freshly Cut Grass, and Making a Difference?

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northwest Suburbs

Position Structure: Full-Time with Benefits or Part-Time Hourly or Split Between Two Responsible Adults

Options: Also open to adjusting the schedule and responsibilities based on individual availability. Need individual(s) hired by April 1, 2026 to continue the Impact Crew Program with our High School Teens

Are you handy and know building operations and lawn equipment maintenance? Are you looking for meaningful, active work that truly matters and gives back to your community? Do you enjoy mentoring young people, sharing what you know, and leaving things better than you found them?

This role plays two parts within the BGCNWS family. During the school day, this role will provide building maintenance needs and/or room management at our Woodlands Impact Center (officially opening in August 2026) while in the afternoon (after school hours and seasonal) supporting our Impact Crew as the Lawn Care Supervisor.

Based on the candidates availability, we can adjust the schedule and responsibilities accordingly. Our ideal candidate will be available on a full-time basis starting in April 2026 to manage our Impact Crew activities from preparing the lawn equipment and transportation for the season, working with our Impact team to recruiting teens for the available Impact Crew roles, setting expectations with the teens with regard to their positions, and managing the community contacts/accounts for weekly service.

Hours may vary based on the time of year, but with the August 2026 opening of the Woodlands Impact Center, this position will require additional needs. Here’s the ideal schedule for this position starting in April, 2026:

Spring: April & May (end of school year):

Monday - Friday: 2 - 7:30pm

Saturday: 7am - 3pm

Sunday: As needed based on weather for the week

Summer: May - August (start of school year):

Monday - Friday: 7am - 3pm

Saturday & Sunday: As needed based on weather for the week

Fall: August - October:

August is the opening of the Woodlands Impact Center - final structure of the role TBD

Lawn Care Supervisor:

Monday - Friday: 2 - 7:30pm

Saturday: 7am - 3pm

Sunday: As needed based on weather for the week

Starting in August, 2026 this position will take on additional responsibilities at our Woodlands Impact Center in addition to the continued management of the Impact Crew.

As the Impact Crew Lawn Care Supervisor, you’re not just overseeing our community lawn care program; it’s a chance to shape the next generation through work responsibilities, while giving back to the senior citizens and veterans of our community and keeping our community looking great.

Why This Job is Special

You’ll lead a team of high-school students who are learning how to:

  • Show up on time
  • Work hard
  • Use equipment safely
  • Treat customers with respect
  • Take pride in a job well done

Your experience, patience, and steady leadership will help teens grow into confident, responsible young adults of our community while you stay active, outdoors, and engaged.

What You’ll Be Doing

For the Impact Crew responsibilities, you’ll be the trusted adult on the crew, making sure both the work and the youth succeed:

  • Driving crew members to and from job sites
  • Transporting mowers, trimmers, and equipment
  • Training teens on how to safely use lawn equipment
  • Helping assign mowing, trimming, and weeding duties
  • Doing light maintenance and basic equipment fixes
  • Making sure safety rules are always followed
  • Communicating with customers when needed
  • Modeling strong work habits, teamwork, and professionalism

If you’re up for it, you can jump in and mow alongside the crew to show them how it is done!

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Is 25 or older
  • Has experience using gas-powered lawn equipment
  • Enjoys working with teens and being a positive role model
  • Has a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Is patient, dependable, and steady under pressure
  • Can pass a background check
  • Has a “can-do” attitude when it comes to developing/establishing our future needs at the Woodlands Impact Center

Retirees, tradespeople, landscapers, and hands-on problem solvers are especially encouraged to apply!

Benefits:

  • Healthcare
  • Vision/Dental
  • Generous PTO
  • Paid Holidays
  • 401k
  • Short-term/Long-term
  • Life Insurance
  • College Reimbursement Programs
