About This Position
JOB OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible for promoting a safety culture through practicing safe and healthful work practices. The Zoo Safety Ranger is responsible for assisting the Safety and Training Coordinator in safety operations including but not limited to responding to emergencies with guests or staff, performing safety audits, incident investigations, and patrols grounds to ensure safety and security for guests and staff. The Zoo Safety Ranger position must maintain a visible and approachable attitude, in order to meet the needs of our guests and staff.
This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school, and continuing education training (1) year of experience in occupational safety and health or security or law enforcement; (1) year of computer experience. Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED. OSHA 10 hour course or suitable safety training (OSHA 10 hour course and First, Aid, and CPR may be obtained after employment). Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

- Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to work different shifts, weekends, evenings, and special events.
- Must be 21 years of age or older (may make unique exceptions based on prior experience).
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D Driver's License
