The Role
The Senior Accountant at Alsana is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring adherence to proper internal controls, generally accepted accounting principles, and the facility’s policies and procedures. Functions within this department include financial counseling, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, and information technology.
• Responsible for Month End Close, Quarterly Close and Annual Close including preparing and posting all recurring and non-recurring journal entries and accruals.
• During Month End Close, research questions and inquiries in account balances and cost centers; provide explanations on variances vs. prior periods and budget/forecast.
• Post and reconcile all cash activity in alignment with bank statements; prepare journal entries as required.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Bi-weekly Payroll processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and related reporting.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting documentation; investigate and resolve discrepancies, including preparation of necessary journal entries.
• Manage and update the Fixed Asset Workbook, including additions, disposals, adjustments, and depreciation.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and regulatory financial reporting accurately and timely, including bank covenant and tax reporting.
• Maintain the General Ledger, including updates to accounts, business units, and journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Coordinate audit activities with external auditors, including preparation of schedules and timely responses to inquiries.
• Assist with other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 5 years prior accounting experience.
• Must have general ledger and accounts payable experience.
• Healthcare institutional industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable accounts payable and general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate accounts payable procedures.
