About This Position

Overall Objective:

Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Information Systems, the Clinical Systems Analyst serves as Virginia Urology’s senior-level support specialist for AthenaOne, SIS Complete, PowerScribe, and the Qvera Interface Engine (QIE). This role supports the Director in designing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s EHR ecosystem and clinical interfaces to ensure interoperability, reliability, and efficiency across all care environments.

The Clinical Systems Analyst works hands-on across all support tiers, providing expert-level knowledge in system integration, workflow configuration, and interface management. This position requires strong technical skills in JavaScript, HL7, and SQL, as well as the ability to learn new clinical applications quickly and apply that knowledge effectively under the guidance of the Director of Information Systems.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting or administering EHR systems or other clinical applications in a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or supporting AthenaOne, SIS Complete, PowerScribe, or equivalent systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, collaborative approach to issue resolution.
  • Experience with two of the three languages (JavaScript, HL7 v2.x, and SQL).
  • Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly and apply that knowledge effectively under direction from leadership.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and related standards.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • In-depth expertise in AthenaOne, SIS Complete, PowerScribe, and Qvera Interface Engine.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript, HL7 v2.x, and SQL.
  • Understanding of healthcare interoperability.
  • Familiarity with Sectra PACS and ancillary clinical systems.
  • Ability to analyze, design, and document complex workflows and data exchanges.
  • Strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills; comfortable working across all IT support levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clinical and administrative staff.
  • Prior Work Experience: List the jobs that would provide the incumbent with the experience and skills needed for this position.
  • Systems Analyst or Clinical Application Support Analyst in a healthcare environment.

Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach and grasp using hands and arms. Occasionally required to bend, kneel, climb (not more than 6’ high). Visual and hearing acuity required to receive and act on instructions and use a telephone and computer. Requires repetitive hand motion (keyboarding and operating a mouse).
