MEAT CUTTER TRAINEE
Reports to: Store Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
We are looking for a Meat Cutter Trainee to join our team and begin a hands-on learning experience in the meat department. As a trainee, you will work closely with experienced meat cutters to learn the skills necessary to cut, trim, and prepare various meats, ensuring the highest quality and food safety standards. This role is designed to teach you the ins and outs of meat cutting, from product preparation to customer service, and help you develop the skills needed to grow into a full-fledged meat cutter. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn meat cutting techniques
- Assist with meat preparation
- Learn product knowledge
- Observe and follow safety protocols
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation
- Stock and organize
- Customer service assistance
- Monitor freshness and quality
- Work in a team environment
- Shadow experienced meat cutters
- Assist with inventory and stocking
- Perform all other duties as assigned

- Must be 18 years or older due to age-related work restrictions
- Interest in learning and working with food
- Ability to follow instructions and work under the guidance of experienced meat cutters
- Strong attention to detail and focus on maintaining quality standards
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and helpful attitude
- Basic math and reading skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is typically performed in a grocery store environment with frequent exposure to refrigerated areas and freezers
- Exposure to sharp equipment requiring high attention to safety
- Fast-paced environment especially during peak shopping hours
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including a variety of shifts, days, evenings, nights, and weekends including overtime, as needed
- As a condition of employment, you are required to obtain a valid Food Handler’s Safety Card within thirty (30) days of your start date. You will be responsible for completing any necessary training and certification requirements to obtain this card. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon maintaining this certification in good standing.

- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
