Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate, impartial, and complete interpretation between English-speaking providers and Spanish-speaking patients during appointments, examinations, and follow-up discussions.
• Interpret medical histories, symptoms, diagnoses, treatment recommendations, medication instructions, and patient education
• Use appropriate medical terminology in both English and Spanish while preserving the meaning and intent of the original message.
• Translate approved patient education materials, appointment instructions, office communications, and other non-complex clinical documents between English and Spanish.
• Ensure translated materials are accurate, culturally appropriate, and understandable to the intended audience.
• Document interpreter services in the electronic health record, consistent with office policy.
• Help identify communication barriers that may affect patient access, understanding, or continuity of care.
• Interpret accurately and completely without adding, omitting, or changing information.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certificate in medical translation required
• At least 1 year of interpreter/translation experience in a medical setting, preferably in a community health or FQHC environment
• Experience working with underserved and diverse patient populations strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; experience with eClinicalWorks, NextGen, SmartCare or similar systems is a plus
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Professional, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to customer service
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
