Job Description

Due to an upcoming retirement, the Greenville Aquatics & Fitness Center (GAFC) seeks an experienced individual to fill a Staff Support Specialist III position. This public-facing position coordinates GAFC memberships and corporate billings and performs related work as required.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Serves as a central point of contact for GAFC members and responds to general inquiries;
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, forms, and information related to GAFC membership and sales;
  • Processes new memberships and maintains membership database;
  • Processes membership renewals and sends renewal notices;
  • Sets up new corporate memberships and prepares corporate billings;
  • Creates and maintains the GAFC membership filing system;
  • Maintains statistics on monthly member counts;
  • Processes monthly checking account and credit card drafts;
  • Assists in the operations of GAFC by supervising the facility one weekend a month, and opening and closing shifts during the week;
  • Provides facility tours and assists prospective members and guests with membership processes;
  • Operates a computer and a variety of office equipment incidental to administrative support duties;
  • Answers phone and directs calls to the appropriate staff;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED (associate’s degree in office administration, business administration, or related field preferred); and
  • At least three years of clerical/administrative support and customer service experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:
  • office practices and procedures;
  • format and organization of letters, reports, and other business correspondence;
  • vocabulary, English, spelling, and arithmetic.
Skill in:
  • the operation of assigned office equipment, including computer equipment and various software packages.
Ability to:
  • understand and follow oral and written instructions;
  • communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • read and compare words and numbers carefully and accurately;
  • maintain clerical records and to compile reports from such records;
  • type accurately at an average rate of speed;
  • establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees and the general public.

  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certified (required within 6 months of hire)
  • Requires working a varied schedule to include some nights, holidays, and weekends
