About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY:
The System/Network Administrator role is to plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, secure and optimize all local and wide area network connections, servers, associated software, and communication links. This person will also troubleshoot network performance issues, as well as analyze network traffic. Along with providing support for the server environment and other related infrastructure software and hardware.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage Active Directory and Exchange environments.
- File Organization and management.
- User permissions and administration.
- Support anti-virus software and end user protection.
- Monitor and alerting for network for threats, errors or outages.
- Software installation, updates and upkeep.
- Scripting and Programming.
- Redundancies, rollovers and recovery plans.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge of:
- Enterprise level infrastructure and platform services such as monitoring, configuration management, SANs and OS development.
- Technical infrastructure, networks, databases and systems in relation to IT.
- Virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
- Core network protocols (DNS, HTTP, etc.).
- Communication methods and procedures.
- Project Management processes.
- Network administration.
- Routing and switching - ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot.
- Information security best practice.
- Server administration.
- Windows server virtualization – ability to install, configure and administer and troubleshoot.
- Applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Skill in:
- Managing relationships with vendors.
- Analyzing complex problems, evaluating alternatives and making sound recommendations.
- Using the internet, remote communications, and other advanced tools to increase productivity and perform job functions.
- Effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, outside agencies, and the general public.
- Writing and speaking that is easily understood by others.

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related area.
- Five (5) years of systems programming, systems analysis and data communications (i.e., LANs and WANs) experience, which included two (2) years of supervisory or project management experience.
- Current CCNA, MCSE/MCSA Windows Server, or other similar certification within one (1) year of appointment.

The employee is continuously indoors. It is rare that this employee will work outdoors; however, occasionally this employee will have to travel to multiple worksites. At times, this position will require extended work hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually low; however, occasional moderate background noise can occur.
