Employment Status: Part-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: 25 hours per week - must be flexible as schedule will vary
Reports to: Director of Faith Formation and Pastor

Summary: The Youth Minister - Middle School is responsible for planning and implementing programs and services for the middle school youth of our parish.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plans and directs weekly group meetings for middle school youth.
- Ensures that all youth events follow the Archdiocesan Policy for Ministering to Minors, as it relates to staff, volunteers, parents and youth.
- Regularly reviews Behavioral Guidelines with all participants and ensures compliance with same.
- Provides semester plans to the DFF and core volunteer team prior to the start of each semester.
- Collaborates with Edge core volunteers to incorporate them into the planning and implementation of youth activities.
- Provides training for youth group volunteers.
- Builds relationships with the youth. Provides guidance and support. Promotes an open line of communication.
- Plans and directs retreats for the youth, in collaboration with the EDGE Core Team.
- Communicates with parents regarding the youth. Addresses any issues regarding a youth with their parents or guardians.
- Communicates plans for all events with youth, parents and volunteers.
- Conducts the operations of this ministry within the approved budget. Exceptions to the budget shall be approved in advance of committing funds.
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of staff and agency information.
- Recruit, oversee and communicate with Core Team on a regular basis to plan Edge.
- Conduct campus visits to St. Mary’s and Fredericksburg Middle School.
- Update all marketing/outreach tools each week.
- Other duties as assigned by the Pastor or the Director of Faith Formation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Practicing Roman Catholic with a commitment to his/her own faith life
- High level of discretion and integrity
- Ability to be reached by phone
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the function of the job
Experience:
- Prior experience in youth ministry is preferred
License and Credentials:
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work independently
- Individual must have strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
- Individual must have good verbal and written communications skills
Travel Requirements: Travel for business purposes may be required
