Job Description
Every movement needs people willing to show up outside, in community, face-to-face, in neighborhoods where the Mamas Agenda is not an abstraction but a daily reality. The Street Team Intern is that person.
This role is the entry point into the Mothering Justice movement ecosystem. Street Team Interns conduct in-person outreach, knock on doors, gather community content, and build presence for MJ's three active campaigns: Universal Childcare, Paid Family and Medical Leave, and Black Maternal Health. This is field work. It is physical, relational, and accountability-intensive.
The MJ Street Team Internship is a 7-week cohort program. Each cohort runs for seven consecutive weeks at 36 hours per week. Interns who complete 100 verified hours within the 7-week cohort become eligible for a Continuing Education stipend. Additional eligibility rules apply.
Continuation beyond the initial 7-week cohort requires renewal, which is approved by the People and Culture Manager and is not automatic. Interns must demonstrate consistent attendance, honest documentation, and satisfactory field performance to be considered for renewal. Each renewal cycle is an additional 7 weeks. All applicants must be approved by the People and Culture Manager before being accepted into any cohort.
Street Team Interns are compensated at $13.73 per hour as temporary, full-time employees of Mothering Justice. Hours are tracked and verified through Paychex and must be approved by a supervisor each week. Hours that are not logged in Paychex and approved by the Supervisor do not count toward the 100-hour continuing education stipend threshold under any circumstances.
This is not a passive role. It requires reliability, honesty, community connection, and the ability to represent Mothering Justice with integrity in every interaction. Interns who demonstrate those qualities will find a clear pathway to deeper involvement in the movement.
