Job Purpose

The Commercial Loan Support Specialist, also referred to as the Loan Coordination Specialist, serves as a proactive, generalist resource within Loan Coordination, providing teamwide support to ensure timely, accurate servicing and coordination of commercial relationships. This role is designed to flex with a varied day-to-day workload by performing core Commercial Loan Coordinator functions, responding to service needs, and helping maintain consistent processes across the team. Working closely with Relationship Managers, Loan Administration, Credit Administration, and other internal partners, the Loan Coordination Specialist helps keep work moving, supports system accuracy and quality control, and strengthens the overall client experience.

Job Description

Serve as a flexible, teamwide Loan Coordination resource by performing core Commercial Loan Coordinator activities and adapting to an unstructured, varied daily workload. Provide overflow and servicing support by responding to lender and internal partner requests, assisting with wires, statement copies, and other routine client needs, and helping resolve client questions and issues. Support system loading and quality control activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of loan and relationship data. Provide backup coverage for the team as needed, helping manage team priorities and lender requests during coverage periods. Support current and future department projects and assist with process and procedure training to strengthen consistency across the team; may also support simple loan renewals as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a proactive, generalist resource within Loan Coordination, capable of performing core Commercial Loan Coordinator work and flexing to changing daily priorities
  • Provide teamwide overflow support by responding to lender, Relationship Manager, and internal partner requests to keep work moving within required timelines.
  • Handle routine servicing needs, including wires, statement copies, and client questions/issues; escalate and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist with system loading, documentation intake, and quality control activities to support accurate and complete loan and relationship records.
  • Support current and future projects, including process improvements, special initiatives, and department deliverables.
  • Support process and procedure training to strengthen consistency and cross-coverage across the Loan Coordination team.
  • Provide backup coverage for the team as needed, helping manage team needs and lender requests during coverage periods.
  • Support simple loan renewals as needed, partnering with Relationship Managers, Credit Administration, and Loan Administration to ensure timely completion.

Other Key Job Functions

  • Communicate effectively with Senior Management, Auditors, Vendors, and other bank personnel.
  • Adhere to all bank and department personnel policies and procedures.
  • Perform other reasonably related job responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience
  • At least two (2) years of previous experience working in the banking industry
  • Knowledge of commercial loan products, documentation, servicing, and internal workflows
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve client requests
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a varied, fast-changing workload while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, including system loading and quality control review
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and appropriate escalation
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build effective internal partnerships
  • Team-oriented approach with flexibility to provide overflow support and backup coverage
  • Ability to learn and follow procedures and support cross-training and process consistency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn internal loan and document systems
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information
  • Strong work ethic
  • Regular reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions to this position
