Job Description
Halls Signature Events is seeking a highly skilled, driven, and leadership-minded Pastry Sous Chef to support and help lead our distinguished pastry program. This role is designed for a professional with advanced technical ability, strong organizational skills, and a deep commitment to artisanal craftsmanship.
Reporting directly to the Executive Pastry Chef, the Pastry Sous Chef will play a critical role in executing daily operations, mentoring team members, and maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and innovation within a kitchen built on excellence and refinement
What You’ll Do:
- Support the Executive Pastry Chef in overseeing daily pastry production, ensuring consistent execution of all menu items and specialty orders.
- Lead by example in preparing and presenting high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods with precision and artisanal technique.
- Supervise, train, and mentor pastry cooks, fostering skill development and reinforcing standards of excellence and professionalism.
- Maintain and enforce recipe integrity, food quality, portioning, and presentation standards across all pastry offerings.
- Assist with menu development, seasonal features, and creative input that reflects both innovation and respect for classic techniques.
- Manage production schedules, prep lists, and station organization to ensure efficiency and seamless kitchen flow.
- Uphold strict cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in compliance with all health regulations.
- Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef, ensuring continuity in execution and team direction.

Requirements:What we need from you:
• Minimum 3–5+ years of professional pastry experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
• Strong foundation in classical pastry techniques, including laminated doughs, custards, mousses, chocolate work, and refined cake decoration.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a high-performance, high-volume environment.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask while maintaining exceptional quality.
• A creative, forward-thinking mindset with a passion for seasonal ingredients, flavor balance, and elevated presentation.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-driven approach to leadership.
• Culinary or pastry arts education is a plus, though not required with substantial hands-on experience.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
