Job Description

Overview:

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects focusing on rotary actuator design and applications within the waste management market. The ideal candidate will thrive in both team-oriented and individual work environments, demonstrating a strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and innovation. This position will have both testing responsibilities (primary) and product engineering (secondary) with business workload dictating time split between the two. For testing, this position is expected to interface with the product engineering and manufacturing team members to establish objectives, set up and conduct tests and then document, analyze, interpret and communicate results with recommendations as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Define test protocols for current product and product development initiatives that are representative of the application requirements
  2. Specify and purchase test equipment, set-up and perform tests, monitor tests, collect and analyze data, create test reports and communicate results
  3. Manage test lab safety, organization, maintenance, equipment calibrations and storage
  4. Support manufacturing testing and perform specialized testing on customer specific units
  5. Secondary support performing Product Development Engineering duties
  6. Apply in-depth understanding of cost-effective manufacturing processes, GD&T, machining, and performance calculations to enhance product designs
  7. Perform engineering design calculations, FEA, 3D product design and create BOM’s within the ERP system.
  8. Work with sales and marketing along with external customers to define and complete projects that meet or exceed quality, cost and delivery targets.
  9. Lead complex customer issue resolution and root cause analysis
  10. Assists in the development and revision of engineering standards and processes
  11. Check engineering drawings, ERP BOM setup and pricing from other engineers
  12. Travel as necessary (<5%)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, related field or equivalent experience
  • 3 years as a mechanical test engineer in a product manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proficiency operating electrical testing equipment and data acquisition hardware and software
  • Must have computer competency with advanced knowledge of 3D design software (Inventor preferred) and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience a plus
