Position Summary, Manager of Facilities Operations- UPW/WWT

The Facilities Ultra-Pure Water/Wastewater Treatment Supervisor will supervise the UPW/WWT and Bulk Gas crews and manage the efficient operation of facility systems to support the mission and goals of NY Creates and the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned personnel effectively to meet 24/7 facility coverage and maintain facility goal of 99% uptime for UPW/WWT, Bulk Gas and other related systems and equipment
  • Manage assigned personnel effectively to meet 24/7 facility coverage and maintain facility goal of 99% uptime for UPW/WWT, Bulk Gas and other related systems and equipment. Maintain performance specifications for UPW/WWT, Bulk Gas and related support systems.
  • Plan, assign and distribute work orders and work requests. Supervise maintenance, repair and related construction activities. Maintain records and files; prepare reports, perform material and labor estimates. Provide effective time management and mentoring environment by delegating tasks to staff members.
  • Implement comprehensive PM programs for facility equipment in our CMMS system. Assist and support the training of existing and new staff members in the CMMS. Assist and support the training of existing and new staff members in various other trade related systems and programs (i.e. SCADA, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
  • Establishes, assigns and adjusts work methods and procedures to meet schedules using knowledge of capacities and capabilities of personnel and equipment. Initiates measures to improve methods, equipment performance and quality of work. Trains and instructs employees in new methods or procedures. Provide technical assistance to mechanics and inspects work in process to insure its completion within allotted time limits and for acceptable quality standards.
  • Maintains records and files, including the approval of time sheets and paid-time-off, and submits as required. Responsibility for identifying correct stock levels of repair or replacement parts.
  • Coordinates with suppliers, contractors, engineers, in-house staff and others concerning equipment operations and maintenance. Maintains records of outside contractors and maintenance personnel and oversees work by outside contractors as directed.
  • Maintain performance specifications for UPW/WWT, Bulk Gas and related support systems; plan, assign and distribute work orders and work requests
  • Supervise maintenance, repair and related construction activities; maintain records and files
  • Prepare reports, perform material and labor estimates; implement comprehensive PM programs for facility equipment in FAMIS/CMMS system
  • Train new and existing staff members in FAMIS/CMMS and other trade related systems and programs (i.e. SCADA, Allen-Bradley, etc.)
  • Initiate process improvement measures regarding methods, equipment performance and quality of work;
  • Train employees in new methods or procedures
  • Provide technical assistance to mechanics and inspect work in process to insure completion within allotted time limits and acceptable quality standards
  • Ensure budgeting guidelines are met and prioritize expenditures maintain budget
  • Assist in the preparation of capital and operations budgets
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, engineers, in-house staff and others concerning equipment operations and maintenance
  • Maintain records of outside contractors and maintenance personnel and oversee work by outside contractors as directed
  • Interpret policies to assigned personnel and enforce safety regulations and adherence to required codes and standards
  • Promote EHS training requirements for assigned personnel
  • Perform employee evaluations and performance plans as necessary
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned


Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Manager of Facilities Operations- UPW/WWT

  • Associate's degree OR technical trade certification from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization AND a minimum of 5 years of Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) / Wastewater Treatment (WWT) experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience in a facility operations environment OR a minimum of 10 years of UPW/WWT experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience in a facility operations environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); experience with related technical systems preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills, with the ability to clearly document and convey information
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Willingness to respond to calls, emails, or system issues outside of regularly scheduled work hours, as needed

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000

*Posted salary rates are determined upon experience and education
