Job Description
The Programming Technician will be responsible for the programming and software
maintenance for the cutting machines at all Maintainer facilities. Assists the Fab Group
Leader in compiling inventory and scheduling reports.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Acts as the primary programmer for the cutting machines, responsible for the conversion
of Pro-E drawings to Pro Nest format, and installing, testing, and debugging of software
and hardware to accurately produce parts according to Engineering specifications.
2. Assists the maintenance department with trouble shooting and diagnostic work associated
with the cutting machines. In conjunction with the maintenance department, develops
operating procedures and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure reliable
operation.
3. Assists with the installation and verification of all software and hardware updates as they
are released.
4. Will function as the primary trainer and provides technical expertise for the operation of
the cutting machines.
5. Assists with inventory control, material management, and production scheduling. Audits
the manufacturing process to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of product or process
flow.
6. Participates in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and by
exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control.
7. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education, Reasoning Ability, and or Experience:
One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred; or three to six months
related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a
variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Communication and Language skills:
Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical instructions and procedures.
Ability to write reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from
groups of internal customers including Engineering, Welding, and management.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to calculate
figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Able to utilize tape measure,
square, and possesses ability to read dimension prints effectively.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Required to sit and use
computer, handle paper work, also to stand and use hands and fingers to grasp and hold
objects, tools and/or controls, likewise reach with arms and hands. While performing the
duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The
employee is also at times exposed to fumes and/or airborne particulate.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Basic computer skills preferred
