Physical Therapist Registered
Position Summary
Kootenai Health is seeking an experienced physical therapist to help launch a new Physical Therapy in the Emergency Department program.
This is not a traditional acute-care PT role. The therapist will work directly alongside emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, case management, and other clinical partners to evaluate and treat patients whose pain, dizziness, mobility, or function may affect their plan of care.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled, autonomous clinician with a strong background in manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, vertigo, concussion, and acute musculoskeletal conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform focused physical therapy evaluations in the Emergency Department
- Assess and treat patients with vertigo, dizziness, concussion symptoms, acute pain, musculoskeletal injuries, falls, and mobility limitations
- Perform vestibular, oculomotor, neurologic, musculoskeletal, gait, balance, and functional assessments
- Provide appropriate manual therapy, canalith-repositioning procedures, exercise, mobility training, education, and equipment recommendations
- Identify clinical red flags and determine when additional medical evaluation is needed
- Support safe discharge and disposition planning
- Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team
- Help develop workflows, referral pathways, clinical standards, and outcome measures for the new program
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program required
- Current Idaho Physical Therapist license, or eligibility to obtain licensure required
- Current BLS certification
- At least five years of clinical physical therapy experience
- Demonstrated experience in manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, vertigo, concussion, and musculoskeletal care
Advanced training or certification in vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, or manual therapy is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job

- Communicates confidently with physicians, nurses, and other hospital leaders
