About This Position
Exercise Physiologist
Position Summary:
The Exercise Physiologist delivers specialized assessment, evaluation, education, and exercise monitoring for patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions. Using a patient’s medical history, exercise risk profile, current health status and current physical condition, the physiologist develops individualized exercise prescriptions, tracks progress, and supports safe, evidence-based rehabilitation to improve functional capacity and quality of life.
Responsibilities:

Conducts patient assessments to determine appropriate care plans

Leads and directs patient activity and education classes while working collaboratively with team members and students to provide patient care, using creativity and professional experience in accordance with general department procedures and policies

Provides educational information related to cardiopulmonary disease and processes, nutrition, psychosocial, medications and related topics to patients, professionals and at community events

Performs other related duties as assigned

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
-
· Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science/Physiology or Kinesiology is required. Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology preferred
-
1 year of experience specifically in Cardiac and/or Pulmonary Rehabilitation preferred
-
BLS required
-
Certification relative to Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, i.e. ACSM CEP or AACVPR CCRP, preferred
-
Able to monitor and interpret 3 lead EKGs
