Job Description

Address: Kids Plus - Squirrel Hill, 4070 Beechwood Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15217 Schedule: Monday 8am-5pm
Tuesday 8am-4pm, or 8am-7pm, or 11am-7pm
Wednesday 8am-5pm
Thursday 8am-4pm, or 8am-7pm, or 11am-7pm
Friday 8am-4pm
Saturday 8am-12pm either PH or CB, rotation (typically 1 time a month)
Sunday none

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provides assistance with various healthcare services, following established policies and protocols including but not limited to vaccine administration, obtaining specimens, conducting routine lab studies, and assisting with administrative functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list may not include all the duties that may be assigned.

  1. Greets, receives, and prepares patients for appointments/procedures; conducts interviews with patients, measures vital signs, and records information.

  1. Performs routine vaccine administration on patients as provided by established protocol.

  1. Performs routine laboratory tests on patients as provided by established protocol.

  1. Maintains nursing stations and examination areas in a manner consistent with OSHA standards and Universal Precautions procedures.

  1. Maintains inventory of medical supplies and materials.

  1. Receives and screens telephone calls.

  1. Coordinate patient flow.

  1. Maintains office/department and patient records.

  1. Prepares timely, legible, and complete documentation of all patient care as provided by law, regulation, and established policy.

  1. Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stays abreast of current technologies/practices.

  1. Applies safety principles as identified by established policy.

  1. Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations.

  1. Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

  1. Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in patient flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.

  1. Understands and follows workflows and policy/procedures.

  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • RN Graduate of a Nursing Program is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in healthcare preferred.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

  • Completion of formal training from an accredited licensed vocational/practical program.

  • A valid and currently active state Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.

  • Ability to work under stress, with interruptions and deadlines.

  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.

  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.

  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

  • Ability to think logically in following procedures and instructions.

  • Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Ability to follow complex instructions.

  • Ability to master basic math skills.

  • Must be organized, very detail-oriented, and able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organization, problem-resolution, and analytical skills with acute attention to detail

  • Strong charting/documentation skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.

  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills, and commitment to excellence & high standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.

  • Bilingual skills a plus

  • Accepts constructive feedback.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; sit; use hands-to-finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee occasionally utilizes visual acuity to operate equipment and read. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch, occasionally exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials. May occasionally lift/push/carry items no more than 25 pounds.
