Responsibilities
You'll lead and continuously improve safety and training programs that help keep our employees safe and successful. From developing engaging curriculum to conducting training sessions and safety audits, you'll play a key role in creating a culture where safety comes first.
Lead with PurposeYou'll mentor, coach, and guide employees through hands-on learning experiences while partnering with operational leaders to strengthen performance and safe work practices.
Drive Compliance & ExcellenceStay ahead of federal, state, local, and OSHA regulations while helping maintain safety accreditation standards and supporting company-wide compliance initiatives.
Get Out in the FieldSafety doesn't happen from behind a desk. You'll spend time observing work practices in the field, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping employees stay safe while performing critical work.
Investigate & ResolveWhen incidents occur, you'll lead accident investigations, coordinate insurance-related communications, manage liability claims, and ensure proper documentation is completed.
Develop Strong TeamsYou'll support hiring, coaching, training, scheduling, and performance management while promoting a positive, fair, and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree in Business, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field
Minimum eight years experience in electric utility line work; Including a minimum of three years’ experience working in a safety department, safety training department or relevant work experience
Expert knowledge of corporate safety practices and procedures, principles of basic electricity, and first aid
Expert knowledge of OSHA requirements
SKILLS:
Comprehensive knowledge of distribution feeds and circuits and switches.
Demonstrated proficiency in both underground and overhead line construction, live-line maintenance, climbing poles, and working from a bucket. Exhibits a high standard for safety through knowledge and leadership of current safety requirements
Excellent oral and written communication and motivation skills
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
Proficient with MS Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and handle member complaint calls professionally.
Possess valid Class A Commercial Georgia driver’s license and relevant endorsements
Certification Requirements
Ability to become certified as a trainer of trenching, shoring, flagging, forklift, medic first aid and CPR, and
Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices Instructor
Possess an Integrated Transmission System (ITS) Operator’s Certification
Possess Certified Utility Safety Professional - CUSP Green Certification.
Obtain Designated Employee Representative (DER) certification within 1 year of hire date
Obtain Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) certification within 5 years of hire date
Ability to complete Northwest Lineman College apprentice program within 5 years of hire date
PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field.
Working knowledge of workers’ compensation and general liability claims
