Construction Accountant

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Construction Accountant to support daily accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with project cost tracking. This hands-on role works closely with the accounting team, other departments, vendors, and lenders to resolve discrepancies and keep financial processes running smoothly.

The ideal candidate brings construction accounting experience, strong reconciliation skills, and a positive, collaborative approach. The ability to learn quickly, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage accounts payable activities, including verifying vendor accounts, processing payments, and resolving invoice and payment discrepancies.

• Code expenses to the appropriate accounts and projects, support job costing, and enter project budgets.

• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, maintain complete financial records, and assist with daily accounting activities, financial reporting, and audits.

• Prepare and maintain Excel spreadsheets, research discrepancies, and collaborate with internal teams and external parties to gather and analyze financial information.

• Maintain vendor and supplier relationships, track subcontractor certificates of insurance, stay informed of applicable accounting requirements, and provide administrative backup as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 2 years of experience in an accounting-related role within a construction environment.

• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Knowledge of accounts payable, construction cost accounting, accounting standards, and related financial procedures, along with strong account reconciliation experience.

• Excellent attention to detail, analytical and research skills, communication abilities, and time management, with the flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
